Classic reunites Olivia with Noddy

New York-based kids’ firm Classic Media has added to its purchase of preschool brand Noddy, acquiring another from rights owner Chorion – Olivia.

Classic has paid an undisclosed amount for the brand, which features an inquisitive girl pig and includes a CGI television show that broadcasts in 120 territories on channels such as Nick Jr in the US, Channel 5’s Milkshake in the UK and TF1 in France.

The deal comes less than two weeks after Classic acquired Noddy from Chorion, which is selling off its IP to service bank debts. Classic’s other brands include Where’s Waldo, Casper the Friendly Ghost, Postman Pat, The Lone Ranger and George of the Jungle.

“This is the perfect addition to our portfolio of classic properties and we look forward to bringing Olivia and her adventures to families everywhere,” said Classic co-CEO Eric Ellenbogen.

Chorion now has just the Enid Blyton and Raymond Chandler estates, plus Gaspard & Lisa and Max & Ruby left on its books following the sales of Olivia, Noddy, the Agatha Christie literary estate, Mr Men, Octonauts and the Beatrix Potter estate.

DC Advisory is helping steer the sales process.
