Cirkus signs Endemol output deal

UK-based VoD service Cirkus has inked a multi-year output deal with Endemol that will see series including Death Comes to Pemberley and Peaky Blinders become available to subscribers.

Cirkus offers a range of ‘Best of British’ shows, including content from ITV Studios Global Entertainment, BBC Worldwide and All3Media International.

The agreement will allow Cirkus to access Endemol’s slate of new drama, comedy and entertainment shows and back catalogue. Programmes including BBC wartime drama The Ark will be available, along with series such as Prisoners’ Wives, Public Enemies and Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

Cirkus is operated by Content and Co, which is run by veteran TV execs Hugh Williams and Mark Bradford, and already offers show such as Luther and Sherlock to subscribers in Sweden and Denmark. The firm also has plans to extend its roll out across the Nordic region during 2014.

Williams said the deal “enormously strengthened” Cirkus’ offering, while Cathy Payne, CEO of Endemol Worldwide Distribution, added: “We think that the service is going to be an increasingly important vehicle for the international distribution of British television programmes and we’re looking forward to sharing in its success.”
