Mayday: Air Disaster has been picked up by ETV

South African nets ETV and Home Channel have acquired a raft of long-running factual series from producer and distributor Cineflix.

ETV has taken 11 seasons of Cineflix Productions’ Mayday: Air Disaster, totalling 82 episodes, along with eight seasons of crime series Unusual Suspects (91×60’), which was produced by LMNO Productions.

Fellow crime series Last Seen Alive (6×60’) has also been included in the package going to ETV from distributor Cineflix Rights.

Meanwhile, Home Channel South Africa has bought titles from Cineflix Rights’ property slate, including seasons 11 and 12 of Property Virgins and the first two seasons of Buy It, Fix It, Sell It which was originally produced by Frantic Films.

The deals were closed by Lucy Rawson, Cineflix’s sales manager for Africa, CEE, the Middle East, and Southern Mediterranean.

Chris Bonney, CEO of rights at Cineflix Media, said: “Africa is a growing market for us, with new networks launching and existing pan-regional networks expanding their acquisitions as they look to meet the challenge from SVoD players.”
