Chrysalis captures creative director

Fledgling UK drama specialist Chrysalis Vision has appointed a Hillbilly Films and Television exec to spearhead its development slate.

Sue Gibbs, previously head of development at UK-based prodco Hillbilly, joins Chrysalis as creative director. She previously worked at UK firms Big Talk, Keshet UK, ITV Studios, BBC Comedy and Carnival Films.

The new indie was formed after the Chrysalis brand was revived last year by former Chrysalis TV Group CEO Mick Pilsworth and Chrysalis Group chairman Chris Wright. Entrepreneurs Luke Johnson and Roger Parry are also part of the founding group.

Wright, chairman of Chrysalis Vision, said Gibbs “not only brings a tremendous track record in development, but also a wealth of relationships with writers, both established and new.”

Chrysalis Vision is currently raising funding under the SEIS and EIS schemes. The company develops, produces and distributes long-running drama series.

Pilsworth, CEO of Chrysalis Vision, added: “I am very pleased that Sue Gibbs has joined us and that she shares our vision of placing the writer at the centre of the development and production of new long-running series ideas for British and US television drama.”
