Chinese nets order more Chef Exchange

Chinese broadcast duo China Central TV and Qingdao TV (QTV) have picked up the second season of Chef Exchange from Australian prodco 57 Films.

The show’s first season is now airing on China Central TV, with the second run slated to debut during Chinese New Year in 2018.

Chef Exchange is a culinary adventure series featuring Adelaide chef Jock Zonfrillo and Shandong chef Qu Jianmin. It follows the duo as they explore each other’s food, culture and customs and take the viewer on a journey from producer to plate.

Plans to create customised content for Chinese social media networks such as WeChat and Weibo are also in the works, using digital platform Tencent.

Paul Ryan, 57 Films director and producer, said the show “provides a platform to communicate important messages about food quality, safety and our clean environment, for which Chinese consumers are willing to pay a premium.”

It’s the latest deal in China for 57 Films, which has forged an agreement with China’s Qingdao Broadcasting and Television Station for football competition show Soccer Swap.
