The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, is the broadcaster’s seventh investment as part of its Growth Fund initiative launched at the beginning of 2014.

Singhal and Nam founded Voltage TV over two years ago and have secured several commissions for major networks, including X-Ray Mega Airport (5×60’) for Discovery Networks International. The series, a behind-the-scenes look at Frankfurt Airport, will air later this year.

The indie is working on a number of funded developments for broadcasters including ITV, Channel 4, the BBC, Discovery Networks International and Sky, ranging from access-based observational films to factual dramas and a cinema documentary.

Following 15 years at the BBC, Singhal was appointed MD at Dragonfly Film & TV where he oversaw in excess of 250 hours of factual programmes. His credits include The Apprentice (BBC), One Born Every Minute, The Family, The Hotel, Bear Grylls’ Wild Weekends and The Plane Crash (Channel 4/Discovery).

Nam ran the coproduction division at the BBC for over 10 years, funding many major international titles. He joined Sanjay at Dragonfly as chief operating officer in 2009.

C4 previously took minority stakes in drama production outfit Eleven Film and factual indies Renowned Films, Arrow Media, Lightbox, True North and Popkorn.
