CBS promotes Vuong for alternative

CBS in the US has appointed a head of alternative programming to replace the outgoing Chris Castallo.

Sharon Vuong becomes senior VP of alternative programming and will report to CBS Entertainment president Glenn Geller.

Vuong joined CBS as a director of alternative in 2011 and rose to become VP of alternative series development.

She replaces Castallo, who assumed his current role in 2013 but has revealed he will leave the network when his contract expires this summer.

Vuong will work across CBS’s alternative shows, which include gameshows and reality series such as Big Brother, Survivor and the forthcoming mobile game remake Candy Crush.

Earlier this month Susan Levison moved from VH1 to join the CBS Television Studios arm of the company as senior VP of alternative programming, reporting to Ghen Maynard, senior exec VP of alternative programming.
