CBS orders pilots from women scribes

Comedy I Mom So Hard will be based on the eponymous web series

US broadcaster CBS has ordered three comedy and drama pilots, all from female writers.

History of Them, which explores how social media is used to meet and fall in love, is being written by Gloria Calderon-Kellet. The comedy is being coproduced by her label Glo Nation, Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios.

Fellow comedy I Mom So Hard is based on the eponymous web series written by and starring Kristin Hensley and Jen Smedley. It’s about the experiences of two mothers and wives and is being produced by Spondoolie Productions, Warner Bros and CBS Television Studios.

Finally, crime drama Murder is from Amanda Green (Lethal Weapon) and produced by Lin Pictures, Warner bros and CBS Studios.

Last year CBS shook up its entertainment division, with outgoing president Glenn Geller being replaced by Kelly Kahl, a 20-year veteran of the broadcaster who has worked on shows including Survivor, CSI and The Good Wife.

The broadcaster was criticised during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour last year for a line-up dominated by male-fronted shows.
