Mother creators win CBS pilot

How I Met Your Mother ended on CBS in 2014

US network CBS has given a pilot order to a comedy from the creators of sitcom hit How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM).

Real Life, a coproduction between Sony Pictures TV and CBS Television Studios, follows the relationship between two 20-somethings who go from being co-workers on opposite US coasts to working in the same office.

HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas will exec produce the project via their Sony Pictures TV overall deal, while comedy writer Hilary Winston (Bad Teacher) will pen the show.

Originally based on a web series from Avital Ash, Real Life was ordered to pilot last season but has been redeveloped this year.

CBS’s pilot slate for 2017/18 already contains six dramas, including Killer Instinct, along with comedies such as Me, Myself & I from Dan Kopelman and Aaron Kaplan.
