Carnival, Spotnitz focus on Freud

The UK-based production outfit behind Downton Abbey has linked up with writers of Star Trek and The X Files on a new European detective drama.
[1]Freud: The Secret Casebook has been created by Nicholas Meyer (Houdini, Star Trek) and Frank Spotnitz (Transporter, The X Files) and is set in Vienna. It follows the personal life of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud as he uses his new theories about psychology to solve crimes.
The show is being produced by NBCUniversal’s Carnival Films and Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions, with cast and directors currently being sought. No broadcaster has yet been confirmed as being on board the project.
The series will be exec produced by Carnival’s Gareth Neame (Downton Abbey) and Nigel Marchant (Turks & Caicos), Alan Gasmer (Vikings), Matt Baer (Unbroken) with Christian Popp and Alexander Keil of Germany’s Producers at Work also attached.
