Care Bears, Madballs spread in Europe

Broadcasters in Germany and the UK have acquired animated content based on two properties from American Greetings Entertainment (AGE) in the US.

KiKa in Germany has picked up Care Bears & Cousins (12×30′), which will air in 2018 as a companion to another AGE-produced show, Welcome to Care-a-Lot.

Care Bears & Cousins was initially made available worldwide by streaming giant Netflix.

Meanwhile, Sony Pictures Television Networks-owned Pop in the UK has acquired 15 animated shorts based on AGE’s Madballs IP.

The brand first appeared as a line of toy rubber balls in the 1980s, later spawning an animated series, comics and a video game.
