Caracol’s Escobar travels to Africa

A Colombian telenovela about the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar has been picked up by a broadcaster in Africa.

Mali-based free-to-air network Africable TV will air Pablo Escobar: The Drug Lord (74×60′) in a 23.00 slot on Saturdays. The Francophone network airs throughout Africa on a variety of satellite and terrestrial networks.

The biographical drama follows Escobar’s life from his childhood to becoming one of the world’s most wanted criminals. It was adapted by Juan Camilo Ferrand from Alonso Salazar’s book La Parabola de Pablo, and was created by Juana Uribe and Camilo Cano.

It aired on Colombia’s Caracol TV in 2012 and is distributed by Caracol TV Internacional.
