Canuck net swallows new Sharknado

Canadian cablenet Space has acquired the follow-up to cult thriller Sharknado, the TV movie that sparked a frenzy of Twitter activity when it aired on Syfy in the US last year.

Sharknado 2: The Second One (1×120′) will air on Space on July 30, the same day it is set to premiere in the US on Syfy.

In the first Sharknado film, which also aired on Space, a freak tornado deposits man-eating sharks in the streets of Los Angeles – a concept that attracted more than 600,000 tweets when it aired on Syfy last July.

Both movies are produced by LA-based The Asylum, whose previous credits include Zombie Apocalypse, Nazis at the Center of the Earth and Titanic II.
