Canal+, VRT, TFO take Tib & TumTum

Tib & TumTum ‘conveys universal values’

A trio of broadcasters in Europe and North America have bought a forthcoming animated adaptation of a comic book series from Go-N Productions in France.

Canal+ in France, VRT in Belgium and TFO in Canada will air Tib & TumTum (52×13′), which is produced by Go-N with TF1 in France and coproduced with KiKa and HR in Germany for public broadcaster ARD.

The comedy adventure series is aimed at five- to eight-year-olds and is based on the comic book of the same name by Flora Grimaldi and Nicolas Bannister. It tells the story of the incredible friendship between a boy with a birthmark on his face and a dinosaur.

Tib & TumTum “conveys universal values: being open to difference, personal achievement, friendship and humour, while taking the drama out of learning about life,” according to Go-N Productions.

Sebastien Debertin, head of fiction, acquisitions and coproductions at KiKa, said: “Although the series has a boy as its hero, the show perfectly targets boys and girls alike, as it features strong female characters as well and conveys modern role models and equal rights for men and woman.
