Canal+ takes C4’s Southcliffe

Canal+ in France has acquired four-part UK drama Southcliffe, about a small town traumatised following a massacre carried out by one of its inhabitants.

Southcliffe tells the story of a journalist who returns to his hometown after it is devastated by a spate of shootings that take place over a single day, tearing apart the community.

The miniseries was directed by Sean Durkin (Martha Marcy May Marlene) and stars Rory Kinnear (Black Mirror, Skyfall) and Sean Harris (Prometheus, Red Riding).

Written by Tony Grisoni (Red Riding, The Unloved ) and produced by Warp Films (This is England), it premiered on Channel 4 in the UK last year and will air on Canal+ later this year.
