Canal+ falls for Honourable Woman

MIPTV: French pay broadcaster Canal+ has acquired two Anglo-US dramas, including BBC2 and Sundance Channel coproduction The Honourable Woman.

The 9×50’ thriller, which debuted internationally in Cannes, is made by Eight Rooks Productions and Drama Republic. It is written and directed by Hugo Blick (The Shadow Line) and stars Maggie Gyllenhaal (Dark Knight) and will air on Canal+ in 2015.

Canal+ has also acquired period industrial espionage drama Halt & Catch Fire (10×52’), made by Gran Via Productions for cablenet AMC. Entertainment One distributes the series.

Created by Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C Rogers, it is produced by showrunner Jonathan Lisco (Southland) and exec produced by Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein (Breaking Bad).

Halt & Catch Fire is set to premiere on the broadcaster’s dedicated fiction channel, Canal+ Séries, at the same time as its US launch this June.
