Gingerbread Animation will be located in Dublin and will produce and develop its own original projects alongside providing service work to third parties.

It will focus on 2D animation and is currently searching for local animators in Ireland to work on as-yet-unannounced, Cake-distributed projects at the studio.

Tom van Waveren, CEO and creative director at Cake, said the new studio would “combine Studio Moshi’s production expertise with our joint creative networks and experience to create an entity that will be able to manage its own slate as well as being an attractive partner to third parties.”

Andrew Davies, CEO and executive producer at Studio Moshi, added: “This partnership complements Studio Moshi’s creator-driven focus and proven animation expertise while also providing a significant increase in our overall creative and production capacity with an upcoming creator-driven series and further plans in place for growth and jobs in Ireland.”

Cake has recently coproduced shows including Bottersnikes & Gumbles, Angelo Rules and Oscar’s Oasis, while Studio Moshi is behind toons such as The Day My Butt Went Psycho and Rocket Dog.
