C5 reveals Secrets & Lies

UK broadcaster Channel 5 has picked up Australian scripted series Secrets & Lies from London-based distributor Cineflix Rights.

The 6×60’ series revolves around a family man whose life is shattered when he is accused of murdering a four-year-old boy. As his world falls apart, he embarks on a relentless battle to clear his name.

The miniseries is written by author Stephen M Irwin and produced by Brisbane-based prodco Hoodlum for Network Ten in Australia.

The deal was brokered by Cineflix senior VP of programme sales Sandra Piha and Noel Hedges, senior VP of acquisitions.

The series was picked up by C5’s head of acquisitions Katie Keenan and is due to air on the channel in 2014 following its premiere in Australia.

C5 has previously found ratings success with Australian prison drama Wentworth, which was originally produced by FremantleMedia Australia for Foxtel’s pay TV channel SoHo.
