C5 has picked up UK rights for The Lying Game, which will air on diginet 5* from February 2012. The show airs in the US on ABC Family and is based on the novels by Sara Shepard about a foster child who discovers she has a twin sister who was adopted by wealthy parents.

Charles Pratt Jr (Ugly Betty), Leslie Morgenstein (The Vampire Diaires) and Gina Girolamo (The Nine Lives of Chloe King) are exec-producers on the series, which is made by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television.

5* will also air comedy drama Gilmore Girls, created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, as part of its daytime schedule. The show aired on US network The CW and is about a single mother raising her daughter in a small Connecticut town.

C5’s digital sister channel will show all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls from the beginning, though a transmission date has not yet been confirmed. Gilmore Girls has previously been available in the UK on diginet E4.
