C5 collars more Dog Rescuers

Channel 5 in the UK has extended its animal series The Dog Rescuers and ordered a special about cats.

The Dog Rescuers, coproduced by London-based Middlechild Productions and GroupM Entertainment, follows inspectors from animal charity the RSPCA who protect dogs from abusive owners and unscrupulous breeders.

C5 has ordered 32 episodes of the show, which make up its fifth and sixth seasons and will air in 2017 and 2018.

Meanwhile, Middlechild is also producing one-off documentary Kitten Rescuers, which follows inspectors saving cats from harm.

The Dog Rescuers and Kitten Rescuers were commissioned by Sean Doyle at Channel 5 and are both coproductions with GroupM Entertainment.
