C4 votes for UK political spoof

Channel 4 (C4) in the UK is prepping a mockumentary to be produced by Discovery Communications-owned Raw TV about one of the country’s fringe political parties.

100 Days of Ukip (working title) will explore how a newly-elected MP from Euro-sceptic political party Ukip fares in her first three months of the job, and will include real-life footage of the party leader Nigel Farage.

Raw was behind last year’s C4 drama Blackout, which combined a fictional storyline with real-life footage about a supposed loss of energy across the UK.

C4 has previously run similar programming including The Trial of Tony Blair, a fictional account of the former UK prime minister in the aftermath of the Iraq war.

Discovery Communications acquired UK prodco Raw, which also produces Gold Rush for Discovery Channel in the US, earlier this year.
