C4, Sony awaken Electric Dreams

Channel 4 in the UK is partnering with Sony Pictures Television on a drama series based on short stories by sci-fi novelist Philip K Dick.

Electric Dreams: The World of Philip K Dick is a 10-part anthology series executive produced by Ronald D Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Michael Dinner (Masters of Sex) and Oscar-nominated actor Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad).

Cranston will also star in the series, with each episode a standalone drama.

The 10 episodes will premiere on C4 in the UK and will be distributed internationally by Sony Pictures Television, which is also producing.

Dick’s short stories have previously shaped Hollywood films including Blade Runner and Minority Report.

The commission was made by C4’s chief creative officer Jay Hunt as well as head of drama Piers Wenger and commissioning editor Simon Maxwell.
