C4 picks up FX’s Fargo

UK pubcaster Channel 4 has acquired FX’s upcoming 10-part crime drama Fargo, exec produced by the Coen brothers and based on the award-winning feature film of the same name.

The show, which is slated for broadcast on C4 in the Spring, is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions and will premiere in the US on FX in April. MGM Television distributes the show globally.

Fargo revolves around an insurance salesman whose life and the lives of those around him are irrevocably changed when he meets a rootless, manipulative criminal.

The TV version has been written by novelist Noah Hawley (Bones, The Unusuals) who will exec produce alongside Geyer Kosinski, Warren Littlefield (My Generation, past President, NBC Entertainment) and Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country For Old Men, A Serious Man, True Grit).

C4 chief creative officer Jay Hunt said the show was “a dark comedy, beautifully directed with a stunning cast” that includes Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman and Bob Odenkirk.
