bTV woos Perfect Bride

Bulgarian terrestrial network bTV is among six broadcasters that will air local adaptations of Global Agency’s dating format Perfect Bride.

bTV’s in-house production unit is set to make the show. It will also be produced in-house by Hungarian channel TV2, while Idea Asia Media is developing the format for Hunan TV in China.

Perfect Bride has also been sold to as-yet undisclosed broadcasters in Germany, Russia and Ukraine. All six new versions are set to air in the fall.

The reality format follows a group of bachelors living in one house and their mothers and a number of single women who live together in another house, as the mothers try to find brides for their sons.

The format has already been successful in several other territories, including India (Star Plus), South Korea (MBC Every 1), the Middle East (LBC), Romania (Kanal D), Turkey (Show TV) and Italy (Rai 2).

The show originally aired in Turkey, produced by Sinevizyon, in 2004.

Izzet Pinto, CEO of Global Agency, said Perfect Bride has been its flagship format for more than five years. He added: “We are very excited to see these new local versions, especially in China, which is probably the world’s hardest market to enter.”
