Brown Bag opens UK studio

Ireland’s Brown Bag Films is opening a 2D animation studio in Manchester this month, providing a boost to the UK industry and creating 40 jobs.

Brown Bag, currently in production on new episodes of Peter Rabbit for Nickelodeon, Octonauts for CBeebies and Doc McStuffins for Disney Junior, employs more than 160 full-time staff from their studios in Dublin and LA Brown.

The new studio will be producing and developing material for all ages of children, Brown Bag said, including preschool and older age groups.

In related news, Brown Bag has partnered with Corus Entertainment-owned Canadian producer and distributor Nelvana to develop girls’ preschool property Cozy Island, which has been created and designed by Israeli prodco Candy Bear (Zack & Quack).

The CGI series follows the adventures of an imaginative little girl who moves to an island with her family when her mother takes a job as ‘mender-in-chief.’

Nelvana’s content airs on Corus Entertainment kids’ channels in Canada, such as Teletoon, YTV and Treehouse TV.
