Brazil spins Wheel of Fortune again

Brazilian broadcaster SBT has extended its deal with CBS Studios International (CBSSI) for long-running gameshow format Wheel of Fortune.

The format, produced as Roda a Roda in Brazil, will return to Brazilian TV in spring and continue to be hosted by local celebrity Silvio Santos.

Wheel of Fortune first aired in Brazil in 2003, with SBT subsequently producing more than 700 local episodes of the popular gameshow.

The format is the longest-running syndicated gameshow on US television. More than 6,000 episodes have been produced since its launch in 1983, according to CBSSI.

The syndicated series’ 32nd season premiered in the US in September 2014, while 12 versions have been produced around the world.

Silvia Abravanel, SBT’s executive producer of Roda a Roda, said the show would be aired in a primetime entertainment slot.
