Bradley & Bee pop up in UK

A UK broadcaster has followed Norwegian pubcaster NRK by acquiring a preschool toon about a magical pop-up book from UK prodco Red Kite Animation.

Channel 5 in the UK will air Bradley & Bee (52×11′) on its kids’ block Milkshake! in 2015, while the series will also air in Norway on NRK.

Based on The Adventures of Bradley and Friends by Scott Downie of Hungry Boy Productions, the toon has been developed by Red Kite and is coproduced with animation software developer Digimania.

It follows a seven-year-old boy and his five-year-old sister who own a magical pop-up book that, when opened, transports them into a world of adventure via a toy model plane. Exotic geographical regions they explore include rainforests, deserts and mountain peaks.

The sales follow Singapore-based August Media Holdings selling its stake in Red Kite back to its original shareholders, led by founder Ken Anderson, earlier this year.

Ken Anderson, CEO of Red Kite Animation, said: “Bradley and Bee is a beautifully crafted show which celebrates cultural diversity, taking inspiration from a history of traditional stories from around the world, marrying ancient folk tales with digital technology.”
