Boat Rocker Rights’ deal for Young Drunk Punk marks its first third-party scripted acquisition since it emerged out of the restructure of Orphan Black producer Temple Street Productions.

The half-hour comedy follows the coming-of-age journey of two young men during the 1980s, against the backdrop of the punk and new wave music scenes.

The series, coproduced by Seven24 Films and Accent Entertainment, is created by and stars Bruce McCulloch and is based on his autobiographical theatrical show.

“Our goal is to seek out well-produced, creator-driven content with wide appeal and this series delivers in both categories,” said Jon Rutherford, president of distribution at Boat Rocker Rights.

The company recently acquired Xploration Station and Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate to build up its slate of third-party programming.
