Blue Ant ups Schouela to president

Producer, distributor and channel operator Blue Ant Media has promoted its head of Canadian operations.

Jamie Schouela

Jamie Schouela, executive VP of Canadian Media at Blue Ant, will take on the title of president, which will see him continue to steer the strategic direction of the company’s Canadian brands including Love Nature, BBC Earth, Smithsonian Channel Canada and T+E among others.

Schouela will manage content development and commissioning across multiple platforms, programming acquisitions and distribution within TV, digital and print media and marketing, publicity and media sales.

He will also remain in charge of social media content studio Blue Ant Plus, and oversee relationships with national cable, IPTV and satellite partners in Canada.

Schouela joined the company in 2013 as executive VP of marketing and communications. In 2015, he was upped to his current role in Canadian Media, and launched BBC Earth and Blue Ant’s multiplatform music offering, A Side, as well as heading up the creation of Blue Ant Plus.

Prior to joining, Schouela was VP of marketing for Shaw Media in Canada in charge of all marketing and communications activity for global television and its 19 speciality channels.

The move follows a period of rapid change at Blue Ant, which has seen long serving CEO Raja Khanna and VP of content Vanessa Case depart.
