Blooming gets Carter

Netherlands-based production outfit Blooming Media has hired former Endemol Shine Group International co-CEO Gary Carter as an advisor.

Carter will work exclusively with the board and senior team as strategic and creative advisor at Blooming Media, which is behind both versions of Nickelodeon series The Ludwigs, produced back-to-back with Dutch and US casts respectively.

The firm is based in Amsterdam and focuses on multiplatform scripted content for young audiences. It was founded by former SBS, Viacom and Endemol exec Frank Jan Horst, who co-owns and co-leads the company with Endemol alums Rogier Visser and Willem Zijlstra.

Zijlstra said Carter had a “very solid grasp” of the media landscape that would help the company expand its business and “shape our ambitions internationally.”

Carter, who was promoted from chairman of Shine Group Northern Europe after the merger with Endemol and Core Media but left six months later, took a non-exec position on the board of Helsinki-based KLOK in November.

He left his role as co-CEO at ESG International last year, with ESG subsequently reshuffling its execs to cover for the loss. Carter was also formerly FremantleMedia chief operating officer but resurfaced at Shine in March 2013.
