Big Light names apprenticeship winner

Frank Spotnitz’s Big Light Productions has selected the first winner of its new apprenticeship scheme, who has emerged from the Serial Eyes postgraduate TV training programme.

Ruddy-Williams Kabuiku

Screenwriter Ruddy-Williams Kabuiku will spend three months at the London offices of the UK- and France-based production company as part of the apprenticeship programme.

Kabuiku studied in France and Canada before co-directing documentary L’amour en Cité and is now developing TV series, web series and documentaries. He was the first winner of the Serial Eyes TV training scheme, which is based at German film school the DFFB and is into its fifth year.

Spotnitz, CEO at Man in the High Castle producer Big Light, described Kabuiku as a “deeply gifted writer” and said the apprenticeship reflected his company’s “commitment to sponsor new talent and foster collaboration.”

Big Light’s projects include Medici: Masters of Florence for Netflix and Ransom for CBS in the US.
