US and Italian producer Bic Production has launched a division that will focus on the creation of international formats.

^[1]Bic Formats will design, develop, produce and distribute new formats covering all genres and platforms. Davide Simon Mazzoli, who has worked in feature films, publishing and the development of theme parks, founded the new arm and has been named president.

Daniele Gramiccia, who will be based in Orlando and produced teen series Game On for Disney Channel, becomes VP.

Mazzoli said the division would act as a distributor for third-party content while specialising in its own formats that could “be easily adapted and sold globally.”

Bic Production is currently developing TV and app content around Sperling & Kupfer’s fantasy teen novel The Magic Lands of Midendhil, which was written by Mazzoli. A theme park based on the saga is being planned in Orlando.
