Beyond takes Hockey Wives to MipTV

Beyond Distribution has acquired Canadian documentary series Hockey Wives: Married to the Game for international launch at MipTV.

The reality doc, which will air on the W Network in Canada, follows the wives and girlfriends of some of the most celebrated and up-and-coming professional ice hockey players across North America.

The deal is the first between Toronto-based producer Bristow Global Media and the UK-based sales arm of Australian firm Beyond.

The eight-episode series is scheduled to premiere on Corus Media’s W Network on March 18. It joins several other factual and lifestyle shows being launched by Beyond at MipTV in Cannes next month, including culinary show Pati’s Mexican Table (26×30’), which is fronted by Pati Jinich. Produced by WETA and Follow Productions, it originally aired on US pubcaster PBS.

Also on the slate are renovation competition programme Game of Homes (8×60’) from Great Pacific Media, again for W Network, and Wild and Dangerous (1×60’), which studies the practice of keeping exotic and dangerous animals as pets.
