Berman’s Jackal lands Immortalists

US producer The Jackal Group, founded by Gail Berman, has acquired rights to author Chloe Benjamin’s forthcoming novel The Immortalists.

Berman and Joe Earley, who joined the firm in February as president, will executive produce the drama for a US cablenet, although details have not yet been revealed.

The Jackal Group, formed in 2014, is a co-venture with the Fox Networks Group that develops and produces scripted and unscripted shows for the likes of Fox Broadcasting Company, FX and FXX and the National Geographic Channels.

The Immortalists, which will be published by Putnam/Penguin Random House in early 2018, is a family love story that spans five decades. It focuses on four siblings who, as children, visit a fortune teller who predicts the day each will die. They then find their lives spiraling and intertwining in dramatic ways.

The Jackal Group produced The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which is set to air on Fox in October and also has drama series Mansland in development at USA Network.

Other shows on its slate include Mattress World, written by Jay Lacopo, and Camelot, written by Dan Frey and Ru Sommer, both at Fox.
