Beazley beats it from the Beeb

Jon Beazley, the BBC Entertainment production controller behind Strictly Come Dancing and So You Think You Can Dance, is leaving the UK public broadcaster next month.

Beazley, who holds the title of controller of entertainment and events group, has overseen a range of entertainment formats including Strictly, I’d Do Anything and Any Dream Will Do, as well as factual formats such as Dragons’ Den and The Restaurant.

“After many hugely enjoyable years I have decided that it’s the right time to leave the BBC, take a break and consider some options available to me before deciding what’s next,” he said in a statement. “It’s a difficult decision to make, but the department is in rude health and I am leaving behind a strong roster of programmes and formats.”

Pat Younge, BBC Vision Productions’ chief creative officer, added: “Jon has been a tremendous force in BBC Entertainment for many, many years and has overseen some of its most successful shows. He leaves the department in great shape and will be sorely missed.”

Younge is seeking a replacement for the role, the BBC said.
