Bear Grylls’ Survival School will air early next year

CITV in the UK has commissioned a children’s adventure show in which survival expert Bear Grylls will take kids on a journey into the wilderness.

Bear Grylls’ Survival School (12×30′) will see Grylls take 10 British children up the mountains of Snowdonia in Wales for a two-week trip.

The series will air on CITV in early 2016 and is a coproduction between Bear Grylls Ventures (The Island, Escape From Hell) and ITV Studios production outfit Potato.

Grylls and his team of experts will be on hand to teach the group of kids, aged between 12 and 15, skills such as making a fire and building a shelter as well as practical techniques such as crossing rivers and abseiling down cliffs.

“Young people at heart are so often the greatest of adventurers: determined, focused, resourceful and team players. This series will test and develop all these qualities in spades,” said Grylls.

Jamila Metran, head of programming for CITV, said: “We’re looking forward to what Bear Grylls’ Survival School has in store for our young adventurers in what will be both an amazingly fun and challenging experience.”
