BBCWW France names chief content officer

French version of Top Gear

BBC Worldwide (BBCWW) has rejigged the leadership structure at its production arm in France, with Gery Leymergie taking up a new position.

The production company will now have two senior directors following Leymergie’s promotion to chief content officer, overseeing all factual and entertainment programming, working alongside chief operating officer Pierre-Marie Gadonneix.

Leymergie was previously director of programmes, having joined BBCWW in 2011 and overseeing the launch of shows such as Top Gear France. Both Leymergie and Gadonneix will report to Jacob Deboer, global commercial director, formats and production at BBCWW.

“The reorganisation of our senior team simplifies our reporting structure and with Gery and Pierre-Marie both well established at BBC Worldwide and leading the business, 2018 is shaping up to be our busiest year ever,” said Deboer.

In related news, French broadcaster Arte has commissioned BBCWW Productions France to coproduce documentary In Search of the Orient Express (working title) alongside Together Media.

Another production in the pipeline at BBCWW’s French unit is the second season of documentary The Secret Life of Cats (La Vie Secrète des Chats) for TF1.

BBC Worldwide Productions France was formed in 2009 and its slate includes Dancing With the Stars (Danse Avec les Stars) for TF1 and Great Bake Off (Le Meilleur Pâtissier) for M6, alongside several scripted formats in development.
