BBC3 glams up for Ladies Day

BBC3 in the UK has commissioned an observational documentary series set in a Liverpool beauty salon from Twenty Six 03 Entertainment

Duncan Gray

Beauty Blowout: The Races is being produced by the entertainment and formats prodco launched by former ITV entertainment controller Duncan Gray with backing from Canada’s Cineflix Media last year.

The show will cover the run-up to Ladies Day at the Grand National horse race meeting at Aintree.

Ex-Sky commissioner and now MD of Twenty Six 03 Antonia Hurford-Jones will executive produce along with Gray. The series was ordered by entertainment commissioning editor Rachel Ashdown.

In other news the channel has acquired a short-form Australian comedy drama where a recently single woman goes back on the dating scene and finds that nobody says what they really mean or want.

600 Bottles of Wine has been adapted from its 8×9’ original format to 4×18’ for BBC3 as part of the deal secured by Oz distributor Escapade Media.

Former linear net BBC3 became an online-only channel in early 2016.
