BBC2 wades into FX’s Feud

BBC2 in the UK has picked up a forthcoming anthology series from FX in the US starring Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange, to be exec produced by Brad Pitt.

Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange star in Feud

Feud explores the rivalry between US actors Bette Davis (Sarandon) and Joan Crawford (Lange). The show is based on a script by Jaff Coihen and Michael Zam that was bought by producer Ryan Murphy.

FX made a straight-to-series order for the eight-episode series in May last year, with Ryan Murphy Productions, Fox 21 Television Studios and Pitt’s prodco Plan B Entertainment producing.

It is the latest FX deal for Murphy, who has also been behind American Horror Story and The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story on the network.

The latter was also picked up by the BBC, which is working with FX on the second season of Tom Hardy drama Taboo.

In related news, filming has begun on a new shortform drama for online-only BBC3 from Kay Mellor’s production company Rollem.

Overshadowed (8×10’) is based on Eva O’Connor’s eponymous play and tells the story of a young Irish vlogger whose life spirals out of control as she deals with anorexia.

The series uses vlogs in an attempt to give “a unique documentary-style insight into teenage life and her increasingly fragile mental state.”
