BBC1, Remarkable join Together Now

BBC1 in the UK has ordered a six-part entertainment format titled All Together Now from Endemol Shine Group’s Remarkable Television.

Rob Beckett

Each episode sees acts, either soloists or groups, perform in front of an audience, named The 100, made up of talented singers.

If any of the crowd enjoy what they hear, they stand up and join in. The more people singing results in a higher score.

The show will be hosted by comedian Rob Beckett (8 Out of 10 Cats).

The format will comprise five hour-long heats, with The 100 comprising selected members of the public, all with singing credentials. At the end of each show, two performers will proceed to the grand final to battle it out for a cash prize.

The show, set to air in 2018, was the brainchild of Remarkable’s in-house team, headed by Dom Waugh, creative director.

It was ordered by Charlotte Moore, director of BBC Content, Kate Phillips, controller of entertainment commissioning, and Rachel Ashdown, commissioning editor of BBC Entertainment. Waugh, James Fox and Andrew Cartmell will exec produce the show, with Marc Bassett as series editor.

“All Together Now is the ultimate crowd pleaser with nervous contestants having to do just that, please a very big crowd,” Phillips said. “With a very opinionated 100 and the brilliant Rob as ringmaster, this will be a unique and very funny Saturday night singalong.”

In related news, the UK pubcaster’s online-only channel BBC3 has ordered a second season of hit comedy Fleabag, which will return in 2019.

The extension was confirmed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the show’s creator, during the 2017 Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Details of the series, from prodco Two Brothers Pictures in association with DryWrite for the BBC, are under wraps. All3Media International, Two Brothers Pictures’ international partner, will handle global sales.
