BBC1 finds the right Link

BBC1 in the UK has ordered 40 more episodes of The Link, the daytime quiz from STV Productions and distributed worldwide by Warner Bros International Television Production (WBITVP).

The Link sees three teams race against time to find the link between questions in order to win a cash prize. The show is hosted by Fast Show and Harry Potter star Mark Williams.

The first 25×45’ series, produced by STV in association with LTV, aired in May and was ranked the number one programme in its daytime timeslot, according to STV.

STV developed the format with LTV, a partnership of Paul Johnson from Tuvalu Entertainment and game developers Tristan Hyatt-Williams, Ben Drummond and Dean Tempest. Andrew Robertson is exec producer for STV and Jo Street is exec producer for BBC.

In related news, arts and documentary network BBC4 has ordered two factual shows from Scottish production outfit Tern TV. Constable: The Country Rebel (1×60’) is presented by art critic Alastair Sooke, and tells the story of John Constable, one of the nation’s favourite landscape painters.

Treasures of the Indus (3×60’), meanwhile, will look at how riches from three very different people, places and dynasties have shaped India and the countries that border it. It will explore the history of the ancient Indus Valley, now part of Pakistan, and reveal outstanding works of art across the region.
