BBC, Scott Free exec lands on Red Planet

Death in Paradise is set for its seventh season next year

Independent UK drama prodco Red Planet Pictures has hired three execs, including a former BBC and Scott Free producer, and promoted a fourth.

Sarah Barton

Sarah Barton is joining Tony Jordan’s Red Planet, which was behind BBC drama Death in Paradise, as head of development.

Barton previously worked for the BBC developing shows including Stephen Butchard’s Good Cop and Sarah Phelp’s The Crimson Field and most recently worked at Ridley Scott’s prodco Scott Free.

Rowan Greenaway is also joining as development executive charged with identifying factual stories and IP that can be adapted as drama series. She recently worked on a variety of scripted projects for Channel 4 and Discovery.

The appointments follow the departure of Simon Winstone earlier this year.

Death in Paradise is due to return to BBC1 for a seventh season in early 2018.
