BBC, PBS prep Alaska Live

The BBC in the UK has ordered a three-part natural history show that will be broadcast live from Alaska, with PBS in the US also preparing to air the series.

Wild Alaska will be produced by the BBC Studios Natural History Unit and PBS

Wild Alaska Live (3×60’) is being produced by BBC Studios’ Natural History Unit along with PBS, and will be distributed by the UK pubcaster’s commercial arm, BBC Worldwide.

The series will be produced by Adam White and executive produced by Roger Webb, having been co-commissioned by Charlotte Moore, director of BBC Content, Craig Hunter, BBC commissioning editor, and Tom McDonald, BBC head of commissioning for natural history and specialist factual.

The show, which will air on BBC1 this summer, follows on from 2015’s Bafta-winning Big Blue Live and will provide insights into the greatest wildlife spectacles from one of the remotest corners of Earth.

Viewers will be taken on a live adventure, with highlights including coverage of the myriad animals that gather as the annual salmon run reaches its height.
