BBC goes for Picnic at Hanging Rock

The BBC has become the latest broadcaster to acquire Australian drama Picnic at Hanging Rock from FremantleMedia International.

The 6×52’ show, adapted from the classic book by Joan Lindsay, was produced by FremantleMedia Australia for Foxtel with a cast including Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones, Hunger Games) and Lola Bessis (Swim Little Fish).

The show is sold globally by FremantleMedia International and has already been picked up by French pay TV network Canal+ and Amazon for the US.

The drama plunges viewers into the mysterious disappearances of three schoolgirls and their governess on Valentine’s Day 1900 and the far-reaching aftermath.
