BBC2 chief takes dual role

The controller of BBC2 in the UK is taking editorial charge of factual-skewing channel BBC4 following the departure of its controller to ITV this week.

Janice Hadlow will take the reins at BBC4 alongside her duties at BBC2 for an interim period, after Richard Klein left the BBC to become director of factual content at rival broadcaster ITV on Tuesday.

Hadlow will be supported by channel exec Adam Barker and schedulers Don Cameron and Owen Courtney to “ensure that commissioning continues as usual and both channels maintain their momentum,” the BBC said.

Elsewhere at the UK pubcaster, Roger Mosey was yesterday given the newly created role of editorial director.

This came after Charlotte Moore, the commissioning editor of documentaries, was last week made acting controller of BBC1 while a permanent replacement for Danny Cohen, now the corporation’s director of television, is sought.

In related news, Hadlow has been named as an exec producer of Fox’s upcoming US remake of BBC comedy Gavin & Stacey.
