BBC calls Robot ceasefire

Robot Wars

The BBC has cancelled its rebooted version of Robot Wars after three seasons.

The BBC2 show, which originally ran from 1998 until 2004, was relaunched two years ago, presented by Dara O’Briain and Angela Scanlon.

Robot Wars is produced by Mentorn Scotland and SJP Media, with their Tinopolis stablemate Passion Distribution selling the format globally.

The show searches for the most advanced fighting robots in the UK, pitching them against each other in a series of battles in an arena.

The BBC said the reason for ending the popular series was to “create room for new shows.”

A tweet from the official Robot Wars Twitter account announced the news: “Sad to confirm the BBC’s decision to de-activate our House Robots. A huge thank you to Dara & Angela, our brilliant judges Noel, Lucy & Sethu, all of the amazing teams and most of all…you for joining us on this amazing robot smashing adventure.”
