Bazalgette joins media investment firm

Former Endemol creative chief Peter Bazalgette has emerged as a non-executive director at a new London stock market-listed company focused on acquiring business-to-business media companies.

In a regulatory announcement, Bazalgette was named as a non-executive director of Critical Information Group, which is expected to be listed on the Alternative Investment Market on June 25.

“The directors intend to identify businesses that own assets that satisfy identifiable customer groups’ need for information and data in their workflow,” said the statement.

“Acquisition targets will need to have attractive market positions and brand franchises and be capable of generating sustainable cash flow and profit growth. Target markets include academic, construction, finance, healthcare, legal, market research, medical and scientific.

The appointment is the latest non-exec role for Bazalgette, who recently took up a non-exec chairman post at Sony Pictures Television to help steer its UK output.

David John Smith has been named as executive chairman of Critical Information Group, while Anthony Martin Foye has been named as chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Jonathan Conibear was also named as a non-exec director.

A spokesman told C21 that as the company’s management has specific experience in B2B publishing and events, future acquisitions are likely to be in this area. All former members were directors at publisher Taylor and Francis.
