Baywatch resurfaces at Pop

CBS and Lionsgate’s US joint-venture cablenet Pop has picked up 1990s lifeguard drama Baywatch from FremantleMedia International (FMI).

The series, which stars David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, follows a team of young lifeguards working on the sun-soaked beaches of Malibu in California.

The deal with Pop will make it available to viewers in more than 80 million homes, with the show debuting this month.

Baywatch, which originally aired on NBC from 1989, has been seen in more than 148 countries and was produced by FremantleMedia North America.

It is distributed worldwide by FMI. Caroline Kusser, senior VP  of sales and distribution for FremantleMedia North America sealed the deal.
