Barcroft, TCB to make Extreme Love

Extreme Love looks at unusual romances such as a woman ‘adult baby’

MIPTV: UK channel operator and prodco Barcroft Media is turning its digital shortform show about bizarre romantic relationships into a longform TV series.

Under a factual coproduction deal agreed with UK distributor TCB Media Rights, the pair will produce Extreme Love (8×60’), based on Barcroft’s shortform series (3×10’).

The original received 146 million view on the Barcroft TV YouTube channel and 42 million on Facebook Watch over the past five months.

The longform series looks at tales of unusual relationships and romances in the 21st century, such as a 21-year-old who lives with her 24-year-old boyfriend and spends time in a cot as an ‘adult baby,’ regressing back to infancy.

Paul Heaney, CEO of TCB Media Rights, said Extreme Love is “a perfect example of how a non-linear idea can inspire new longform ideas to new TV audiences.”

“People are endlessly fascinated by unusual relationships and now we get to supersize this subculture for television,” said Barcroft Media CEO Sam Barcroft.

Barcroft’s longform shows include Inside the KKK for the UK’s Channel 4, the Extraordinary People strand for Channel 5, Preposterous Pets for Animal Planet International and Amazing on the Inside for Netflix.
