Banijay launches Spanish celeb channel

Banijay Group is launching a Spanish version of its 24-hour celebrity and entertainment news channel Non Stop People, to be overseen by the president of Banijay Spain.

Non Stop People Spain will broadcast from June 1 exclusively on Telefonica’s Movistar TV platform.

The news comes 30 months after the launch of Non Stop People in France, which went live on Vivendi-owned pay TV service CanalSat.

The Spanish channel will have an editorial team of 30 journalists and its own studio in central Madrid. In total, more than 60 people will work for the new channel, which will produce all of its own content.

Non Stop People Spain will be overseen by José Manuel Lorenzo, president of Banijay Spain and former MD of Canal+ in Spain.

The editorial team will be led by Antonio San José, who was formerly director of information at CNN+, Canal + and Spain’s national radio. He was also deputy director of information services at Antena 3.

Lorenzo said the next step in the channel’s development would be a move into Latin America.
